Open Responsibility is an open database providing access to information on companies' and organizations' sustainability work and performance. The database is global and gives the opportunity to any company, organization or institute to share their own, or other collected, sustainability information. It also gives anybody the opportunity to access the information in the database. As a developer you can build new technology that uses the sustainability data, through an API (Application Programming Interface).
The purpose of Open Responsibility is to open up information about sustainability performance and practices, and make it accessible to a larger audience.
Access to this kind of data is a critical to enable best practices in sustainable strategies to be shared and spread between companies and organizations, in order to encourage the faster development of sustainable innovation and practices. Another purpose is to enable the creation of new tools, programs and applications based on sustainability data, by developing an API. Through this, we hope to enable an even larger awareness of sustainability issues and best practices.
Enabling sustainability information, best practices and ideas to be transferred among individuals and organizations is, in our view, an important component in order to reach a more sustainable development.
